What to pack in your Hospital bag?

We all know what to pack when going on Vacation! But, what do we need to pack when going to the hospital to deliver a baby?!

I have to admit, I packed a LOT of stuff as a first time time. That list was cut down to half by the time I had my second.

I mean cmon, curling your hair while blood is flowing all over you? We all know that's far fetched!

Here's a list of the must have items in your birth hospital bag:

MOM:

  • Comfortable pijamas
  • Slippers
  • Robe
  • Socks
  • Comfortable underwear
  • Flip flops for shower
  • Face wash
  • Toothbrush
  • Comfy going home outfit
  • Buttoned shirt
  • Nursing bra (if planning to nurse)
  • Nursing pads
  • Nipple Cream
  • Water bottle
  • Medications mom takes regularly
  • Phone/Charger

BABY:

  • Onesies
  • Diaper cream
  • Wipes
  • Swaddle
  • Going home outfit
  • Mittens
  • Socks
  • Pacifier
  • Ready to go formula (just in case needed)
  • Burp cloths
  • Hat

PARTNER:

  • Spare clothes
  • Toiletries
  • Wallet/ID/Insurance card/Money
  • Phone/charger
  • Snacks (Dads get easily bored!)

This is a picture of me at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey when I first had my first child. It was defintely an exciting and terrifying experience because I didnt know what to expect. I did a lot of reading prior to my delivery date, so I had the knowledge, but lacked the experience. My second time was much easier because I knew exactly what was going to happen. I even wore makeup the second time!

So best of luck to you mama! You're doing wonderful!
