TOP CONCERNS NEW MAMAS HAVE WHEN IT COMES TO PHOTOGRAPHING THEIR NEW BORN BABY

What are the main concerns New Mamas have when it comes to photographing their new born baby?

Whether it is a first time mom or an expert in the momma field, all new moms have concerns when it comes to photographing their new born baby.

Having a baby is the best thing that could every happen to a family, yet at the same time it is hard. The planning, the stress, the sleepless nights.

Many new moms look into Newborn Photography, however not all of them move forward with actually booking one. Why? Because they have questions and concerns, and more often than not, they don’t know how to address these concerns. So I am going to help you answer some of the main concerns of New Mamas.

Here are some of the main concerns I’ve dealt with when it comes to booking a Newborn Photography Session:

  • Is it safe to take the baby out of the house that early?

Yes. As long as the baby has no health concerns and is checked by a pediatrician, it is safe to leave the house with a newborn baby. Factors to take into consideration are cold temperatures for example, which require bundling baby up in more layers to keep them warm.

  • My baby’s immune system is still developing. Is the studio clean & sanitized?

Absolutely. As a Mom myself, I place high importance on the cleanliness of my studio. Under wraps are washed after every single session, whereas outer wraps are sprayed with a baby safe hypoallergenic disinfecting spray.

  • Does the photographer wear a mask?

Yes, I still wear a mask during ALL of my newborn sessions, even if parents tell me it’s okay not to. I feel more comfortable doing so, since I often get very close to baby’s face while posing. Therefore, as an extra precaution, I do wear a face mask during all my sessions.

  • Is it uncomfortable for the baby to pose for a few hours?

Most babies are asleep during those few hours of their newborn photoshoot. As long as the temperature is at a level comfortable and warm enough for baby, they will be just fine. They’ve been snuggled up in mom’s belly for 9 months, so snuggled up wrapped poses is definitely something they’re used to and like.

  • Will I be able to feed the baby during the session?

Absolutely! Whether you’re nursing, pumping or bottle feeding, you will have the freedom to feed your baby as needed during the session. I always recommend having some expressed milk in hand, or a bottle, just in case baby is in a prop and those few drops of milk are just what he needs to soothe.

  • What if my baby cries?

Babies cry. It’s a normal part of growing up. They don’t know how to express themselves, so they let out a cry, to inform parents that they’re hungry, sleepy, gassy, or uncomfortable. I always recommend having a pacifier (or two) in hand, just in case we need it for a few seconds to soothe baby. If you’re not using a Pacifier, I totally understand. Don’t worry, we will do our best to soothe baby as much as possible without the use of a pacifier.

These are only a few of the many concerns new mamas have when it comes to photographing their new born infants. If you have any further concerns, please do reach out to Seta at Zartarel Photography and she’ll be happy to assist you!
