A Checklist of what to bring to your Newborn Session
“What do I need to bring with me?” is by far, the most common question Newborn Photographers hear before a session.
“Just bring yourself and the baby” is the first thing I say! While it’s mostly true, there are a few small things you can add to your diaper bag which come in handy during the session.
The first and most important one is a Pacifier. While some babies don’t usually take a pacifier, I would say about 90% of them do, and it helps soothe them while getting them into position. Even if a parent is not a huge fan of pacifiers and fears their baby will get attached to them, having one in handy specifically for this photo session can help the baby settle and fall into a deep sleep.
Another important thing to have with you is a Bottle. Whether that’s formula or pumped breastmilk, having one in hand makes it much easier to soothe the baby while posing them, rather than stopping and pulling out the baby to nurse (if you’re nursing). Sometimes babies with a full tummy can get fussy too, and just a few more sips of milk can help them settle down.
These are the two main things which I ask parents to bring. Easy peasy!
As far as props and accessories, I provide everything from wraps, hats, bonnets, headbands, and all sorts of props. Parents choose their preferred color schemes during the pre-session consultation where I get a better idea of what they want and which style they prefer.
So if you’re concerned about what to bring, I hope this gives you a better idea!
Sounds exciting, right?!
Fingers crossed,
